Well I did a bit of sewing/quilting this weekend. I finished quilting the Owl pink/purple panel. I just have to attach the binding. After quilting the panel, I decided I wanted to make my Utility Apron for the Spring Craft market that I will be in with my mom and sister. I thought it would be a great idea to hold change for the market :) And I found this perfect pattern to help @ Sugar Bee crafts. I tweaked it a bit where I just cut out larger pieces and folded them for the pockets. And I also used 2.5" strips for the straps rather than 4" strips. I just love it!
It has three small pockets and a pencil holder for the lower area. And the two large pockets where the floral print is. I just love purple. And I added this fabric for the backing that I purchased a while ago.
I love those sewing machines!
And I'm using a lot of fabric in my stash. A part of me, just wants to "protect" it....you know just pull it out from my stash and admire it....but to my amazement (and my hubby's) I've been slowly using up what I have on hand. Of course, what I have in my stash could probably support my sewing passion for 10 years!
Did you all have a good quilting weekend? Are you using up your stash or did you purchase some new fabric? I'd love to hear about it!
Quilting is a new born again hobby of mine. I started a quilt over 7 years ago and then became too busy to finish it. I was reintroduced back into quilting and jumped in with both feet. My grandmother was the first quilter in my life and I still have quilts she made. I love how fabrics can just come together and create something new. This blog shows this side of my life. I answer every comment by email and/or by reply on here. Hope you enjoy my blog. Happy Quilting :)
Great apron. Good luck at the craft market. Not much sewing going on around my house -- too much shovelling. sigh.....
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to keep your cash close at hand! I'm working away on a few projects (to be seen in future posts) and trying to resist adding to my stash after the Great Fabric Binge of February 2015. :)
ReplyDeleteYour apron looks great! Good luck at the market. Where is it? Won't be long before my return. Hope the snow is all gone by the time I get back!
