Finished Quilting Projects

Weekend!

Well I haven't been able to do much quilting this week. But on the up side, my housework is done and I even made a Chocolate Hazelnut Torte. So all in all I was quite productive this week. I started cutting out my sashing pieces for the blocks. I also found some material for the inner border and outer border from my stash. Yes my stash! I'm trying to limit my buying of fabric. I've picked up a few items in the last little while but I'm trying to cut back and use some of what I have. I've changed the colours that the pattern called for but I wanted to use what I have. Plus the deep red and dark blue prints, I think was a little overpowering for what I want to accomplish with this quilt. I want it to be more soothing and relaxing rather than vibrant. Hoping that I'm making the right choice.

Scrappy Log Quilt

Well it's been a few days since I've posted anything. I was away for a few days to visit with my family and give my mom her quilt. She loved it! So happy that she likes it. I also picked up a few extra sewing accessories and purchased some more material online. My stash is growing slightly :)

I've finished making the blocks for the Scrappy Log quilt, so now I just need to add the sashing and the border. I haven't had a chance to work on it the last few days. A few things came up and I've been neglecting my housework so I figure it will be a few more days before I can get back into it.

So I bought some batting to be able to make some pot holders so I'm going to try that out in the next six months I hope. So many projects that I want to do and I just don't have the time.

How does anyone manage their time when you want to do so many projects!

Scrappy Log Quilt Started

Well I started on my first quilting goal of 2014. I started putting the blocks together for my Scrappy Log quilt. I also used a gift card I had and purchased $50 worth of fabric and some extra needles. So excited to be starting a new project. I just love making the quilt top. It is definitely my favourite part. I also bought a year membership to McCall's Quilting and Quick Quilts. I love getting the magazines so I figured why not save a little bit of money and have them delivered.

I'm hoping to have this quilt complete by mid Feb. So about a month away. I think I will be able to accomplish that goal.

As promised, here is a picture of my mom's quilt.

I also finished up that gender neutral baby blankee. After work, I'm going to try to work on my Scrappy Log quilt by making the blocks for it.

So here's my list for 2014 Quilting Projects:

- Funfetti (America Makes Fast Quilts)
- Quilt for my Godson, this may be one I design
- Dressed to the Nines (Quilting Quickly)
- Owl Pincushions (2)
- Shabby Chic Stockings (3)
- Mug Rugs (4)
- Blankees (4)
- Finish Queen size quilt (One I started quilting back in Sept)
- Whispering Lake (Quilt it Today Jan/Feb)

I may add to this list as the year goes on. Just have to wait and see how far I get :)

Another one done :)

Well it's quite late, close to 3:30 am but I have just finished my mom's quilt. I made my binding and then sewed it on. I used a decorative stitch which I hadn't tried before for my binding. I love the result! Takes a bit longer and more thread but the result was beautiful.

I'll post a picture of the completed quilt tomorrow. I also made my list for 2014 quilt projects. I'll try to post it tomorrow.

2014 Quilts and Projects to do

I seen a really good post today talking about making up a list of what quilts to make out of your quilt book library. I have so far made three quilts out of my book library. Each quilt was from a different book or magazine. I think I would still like to make a list since my list in my head is getting longer and longer as time goes on. I have bought material for future quilts which I thought I would have been working on by now. Instead I ended up skipping a bit in order to make some quilts as gifts. So I am almost finished quilting my mother's quilt and then I have another one with most of the pieces cut out and ready to be sewn. Then maybe I can get back to my original quilt list.

There are just too many possibilities out there. Way too many beautiful quilts and not enough time. I'll try to finalize my list this week for the quilts to make in 2014. Hope all your New Year resolutions  are going well.

Friday...

First week back to work is always the most difficult after vacation. I still have done some quilting this week. I finished cutting up the pieces for the Scrappy Log quilt's blocks. I'll have to pick out a material for the sashing pieces. I did make another blankee since I am hoping to sell a few different items in order to be able to buy more fabric in the future.

So my resolution for 2014 is to make at least two items a month to go into a sellable bin. Hopefully it'll go over well. New blankee top :) I'll try to complete it this weekend.

Back to Work

Well my vacation is officially over :( Slightly sad but I guess it'll be good to get back into a routine again. I cut up more pieces today so I am almost finish cutting up pieces for one of the four quilts that I have been cutting the pieces for. I also realized today that I should hold off on buying more fabric except for backing and batting for a little while. I have so much material at the moment! Sometimes I just can't help myself with all the pretty fabrics.

Here's the blankee that I was blogging about earlier. It's all finished :)

Home Sweet Home

After a full week of travelling for the holidays, I am finally back home :) I did purchase a bit of material while I was visiting family. I couldn't help myself! There was so much Christmas material on sale and I bought some other material for future quilts. I also bought some material to make a coat. I've never done that before so it should be interesting to say the least.

I ended up knitting a bit while I was away. I guess I was going through quilting withdrawals. Tonight I went through a huge amount of scraps and cut them into various pieces for future quilts. I made 5" squares, 2-1/2" squares and numerous 2" squares. All the other useable bits went into a basket for crazy quilts. I am trying to organize myself this year by cutting up my scraps into useable pieces and storing them in baskets that I have labeled as I get a good amount of scrap material. I'm hoping that this will keep my material a little neater and also easier to grab already cut pieces for quilts.

I wonder what other organizational ways are out there.
