Well the piecing for the Dressed to the Nines quilt top is coming along nicely. I didn't do any sewing yesterday. I cleaned and organized my house. And also had a beautiful leisurely cruise through the little communities around here. And I may have had some ice cream ;) It is feeling like spring :) Of course, talking to my family in Cape Breton would show that winter is still lingering. They had snow this morning! Better them than me :)
I received my fabric purchase from Sew Sisters on Thursday :) So exciting when those packages arrive :)
I used up my Easter treat which was 20% off my purchase and my gift card. Here are the beautiful items I picked out.
The Kona Aqua is for the Positively Simple Quilt since I ran out of what I had here in my stash. And I couldn't resist that Frozen Kisses - Mini Penguins fabric. Too adorable! And I couldn't resist the Splendor - Paisley Blue in the Clearance section. It was in the clearance section so it wasn't even a difficult decision! I also picked up these two fabrics in the Clearance section as well.
Oh Boy - Star Swirls in Aqua and Star Swirls in Gray.
Then another item "fell" in my cart.....
The Up Parasol roll from Heather Bailey's collection. Ah Jelly Rolls....every time I receive a new one, I can't help but hear Destiny's Child "Bootylicious" song in my head....I don't think you're ready for this jelly, I don't think you're ready for this jelly.....hehehe.
So that sums up my Sunday Stash :) Hope you are all having a great Sunday!
Quilting is a new born again hobby of mine. I started a quilt over 7 years ago and then became too busy to finish it. I was reintroduced back into quilting and jumped in with both feet. My grandmother was the first quilter in my life and I still have quilts she made. I love how fabrics can just come together and create something new. This blog shows this side of my life. I answer every comment by email and/or by reply on here. Hope you enjoy my blog. Happy Quilting :)

Pin, Sew, Repeat
The weekend is finally here! I had a chance to play in my sewing room a bit during the week. I was able to cut up 32 squares from my Layer Cake. Here is the first cut.....a little hesitant since this is my first time cutting into one of those :)
And after they are all cut.....
And some awesome scraps! I was able to have 72 - 2-1/2" squares leftover from each 10" square :)
And these gorgeous strips! Not sure what I'll use them for yet.
And then I dug out a bunch of 9 patches that I made a long time ago. I started cutting those up.
And laid them out on my "design wall" :)
Which is my guest room bed. I started piecing this one together but I am feeling way too exhausted tonight to continue. I'm hoping to have this quilt top done by the end of the weekend :)
So how about you, do you have any goals for the weekend?

Sunday Stash and Positively Simple
Well it's been decided. Positively Simple was the option most voted for. It was the one that I liked most but since it's the FIRST time I use a Layer Cake, I wanted to make sure. I actually still haven't cut into any of the Layer Cake yet. I did cut as much of the Kona Aqua as I could. I knew I didn't have enough but I wanted to start this quilt so I cut anyway.
Thanks to my MMQG members to remember the name of that Kona :)
I actually didn't do much in my sewing room yesterday besides cutting up those pieces. The day here was gorgeous and I took full advantage of it. I spent a lot of time outside yesterday. Walking the dog, then walking to the Farmers Market and finally doing a bit of shopping. One stop was to a LQS within a 10 min walk from my house to search for the Kona Aqua fabric. I figured there wouldn't be any there but I had to try :)
My mailbox has been in full swing this week! I received three fabric packages. It was so exciting! It's been such a dreadful winter here but it is finally starting to look up. So seeing my mailbox overflowing most days when I came home was a fantastic site to see!
This Sew Sisters purchase came in last week. I put in a small order when they had their Easter Treat event.
The fabric on the left is Paris - Café Linen and the fabric on the right is Floral on Newsprint Blue from the Bright and Early collection. And my Easter Treat was 20% off my next purchase :) It was used this weekend along with my $100 gift card....more to come on this purchase in a future post ;)
I ordered one Color Theory Charm Pack from Sew Sisters and one from Westwood Acres Fabric.
I love that I was able to get a little taste of this collection! So pretty!
I also picked up the April Showers Bundle by Bonnie & Camille from Westwood Acres Fabric which is pictured below on the right.
On the left are fabrics from the Bungalow Collection by Joel Dewberry. I've always been a fan of Joel Dewberry prints. I picked out various fabrics of that collection that I liked. And then when they arrived from Fabric Please! I tied them together in a cute little bundle :) And this collection is still on sale for $8 a yard! Click here to see this beautiful collection! If your order is under $25, shipping anywhere in Canada is a $5 Flat Rate!
Well that's my Sunday Stash for this week :) Hope you all are having a lovely weekend!

Ah Cake...
Well I decided that I'm going to use my Elementary Layer Cake. I've been holding onto that Layer Cake for a while. It is so difficult to break open those pretty pre-cuts!
There are only a couple of pairs in this Layer Cake which I think makes it that much better! I divided them up and then paired them up. Each pair has a good contrast. I haven't cut into them yet because I'm having a difficult time deciding which pattern to use. It was difficult enough to open the package on these and now I'm debating on the pattern. This has only been a process I've been debating for the last three days!
So here are the options:

Option #1 is One Lump or Two? which appeared in Quilting Quickly Fall 2013
Option #2 is Positively Simple which appeared in Quilting Quickly Spring 2014
I am having such a difficult time deciding! What would you do?

Writing Hiatus and a Giveaway
Wow. Over 20 days since I wrote a blog post. I guess I just let time slip away from me. Well I have been sewing a bit. I was getting ready for a vendors market that happened yesterday. I've been busy making these burp cloths.
That one was the trial run. So I decided to cut out a few more.
And a few more....
And it resulted in having this many....
I finished 36! I figured I could always use them for baby showers. I found the tutorial for them here on Cloud9 Fabrics.
I wanted to use up a good bit of my flannel stash so this accomplished it. I'm more of a cotton girl but I do like to have some flannel kicking around in my stash. I still have a good amount of flannel in my stash but at least I have used up some of it. I sold a few at the market so I have a good inventory for baby shower gifts :)
Here's a picture of our two tables and me!
My sister and mom shared the spot with me which was great. So there's lots of items that were sewed by my sister and mom too. Always easier to share a table with one or two people. Allows people to leave the table to relax or wander around to the other tables :)
So all in all, it was a great weekend to spend with my family. I'm starting to get really excited for summer. Vacation plans are brewing and our sewing week is booked for August. We're going to Wolfville at the same cottage as last year. Except this year, we're staying for a full week. I am getting so excited! And then a week long vacation for me and my hubby in July! So excited! It's been our first vacation in two years! And the snow is almost all gone which is making me giddy with excitement!
So onto the giveaway! The snow is melting, spring is coming and I'm hoping that this will make up for my writing hiatus. The item up for grabs is.....
A zippered pouch! This giveaway will be open to Canadian and United States residents. The random generator app will pick a winner Monday morning, April 20 at 7:00 ADT. I will try to post the winner before I leave for work Monday morning. If not, I will announce the winner Monday evening. To enter the giveaway, just leave a comment on this post. One entry per user/email address. Good luck!
Now I'm off to enjoy the last few rays of sunshine by taking one of my biggest fans for a walk ;)
